Telebyte Shield · Managed Security & Compliance

Enterprise-grade protection for small businesses.

Fully managed, for a fixed monthly cost. Devices locked down, threats blocked before they arrive, everything monitored 24/7 — without needing an IT department. We build it, run it, and watch it.

Most small firms have antivirus and hope for the best.

Telebyte Shield gives them the layered security a large enterprise runs — devices locked down, threats blocked before they arrive, everything monitored around the clock — without needing an IT department. We build it, run it, and watch it, for one predictable monthly fee.

It’s built for the firms this site already serves: FCA-regulated finance, insurance and claims businesses that hold customer data and can’t afford a breach, but don’t want to hire an in-house security team to prevent one.

Five layers, fully managed

No single control stops everything. Real security is layers — each one catching what the last one missed. Telebyte Shield runs all five, so you don’t have to think about any of them.

Managed devices & data protection

Every machine locked down, patched, and accounted for — without an IT department.

  • Full-disk encryption (BitLocker) on every laptop and desktop, so a lost device isn't a data breach.
  • USB lockdown that stops staff copying customer data onto memory sticks.
  • Automatic overnight patching of Windows and everyday apps — Chrome, Adobe, softphones.
  • A compliance dashboard showing which machines are secure, at a glance.

Network & threat protection

Threats blocked before they reach the desk — in the office and at home.

  • Web filtering that blocks malware, phishing and scam sites for office and remote staff, backed by 2.3 million+ threat signatures.
  • 24/7 intrusion detection watching for activity that shouldn't be there.
  • A managed firewall and encrypted VPN, kept configured and current.
  • Managed business WiFi with call-quality priority, so voice traffic stays clean.

Microsoft 365 security

The email and file platform your business actually runs on, hardened properly.

  • Multi-factor authentication on every account — the single biggest block against account takeover.
  • Microsoft Secure Score hardening, typically moving a firm from around 50% to 85%+.
  • Conditional Access, so only trusted, compliant devices can reach company data.
  • Identity and login monitoring that flags a sign-in from somewhere it shouldn't be.

Monitoring, reporting & support

One place to see everything — and people who answer when something's wrong.

  • Single-pane security monitoring (SIEM) across every server and device, with file-integrity and intrusion alerts.
  • A live security dashboard, so the current picture is never a mystery.
  • A plain-English weekly security report — what happened, what was blocked, what needs attention.
  • Remote support built in, not billed by the hour.

Compliance-ready

The controls a regulator or insurer asks for, in place and evidenced.

  • Maps directly to Cyber Essentials — we get you certification-ready.
  • Controls suited to FCA-regulated firms: data protection, audit trails, encryption, access control.
  • The evidence an auditor or insurer asks for, ready rather than reconstructed.

Three packages

Priced per user, per month — so it scales with your headcount and stays predictable. Start where you are and move up when you’re ready.

Built to pass the checks that matter

Telebyte Shield maps directly to Cyber Essentials — the UK government-backed scheme insurers and public-sector contracts increasingly ask for — and we get you certification-ready rather than leaving you to interpret the questionnaire.

For FCA-regulated firms, the same controls line up with what a regulator or PI insurer expects to see: data protection, audit trails, encryption at rest, and access control that only lets trusted devices near customer data. The evidence is ready when you’re asked for it, not reconstructed in a panic.

Looking for a Cyber Essentials provider?

Start reading about Cyber Essentials and three names come up — the NCSC, IASME, and whichever certification body is selling you a certificate. Here is the honest version.

Telebyte is not a certification body, and we won’t pretend to be one. The NCSC defines the scheme, IASME runs it, and independent bodies licensed by IASME issue the certificates. Any IT company claiming it “accredits” you itself is either confused or hoping you are.

What we do is the part that actually takes the work: getting your firm into a state where it passes, and staying there. The five controls Cyber Essentials tests are the same five things Telebyte Shield runs every day.

What the five controls are — and who runs them

  • Firewalls. Managed firewall, configured and kept current — not the box the broadband came in.
  • Secure configuration. Devices built to a known-good standard, not however they came out of the shop.
  • User access control. Multi-factor authentication on every account, admin rights kept separate.
  • Malware protection. Endpoint protection plus web filtering that blocks the site before it loads.
  • Security update management. Automatic overnight patching of operating systems and everyday apps.

We put those in place, gather the evidence, complete the questionnaire with you and manage the submission through a licensed certification body. Certification support is a one-off £500 add-on on Compliance+; the IASME assessment fee is banded by company size and paid to the certification body.

If you would rather understand it before you talk to anyone, we have written the guides we wished existed: who actually certifies Cyber Essentials, what it really costs in 2026, the full checklist, what Plus adds, and what it means for FCA-regulated firms.

Straight answers

Is Telebyte a Cyber Essentials certification body?
No, and you should be wary of any IT provider that says it is. Certification bodies are independent companies licensed by the IASME Consortium, which runs the scheme on behalf of the NCSC. Telebyte is the provider that gets you ready and takes you through the process — we put the controls in place, prepare the evidence and manage the submission with a licensed certification body. The certificate itself is issued by that body.
Can you get us Cyber Essentials accreditation?
We can get you certified, which is what people usually mean. The five controls — firewalls, secure configuration, access control, malware protection and patch management — are exactly what Telebyte Shield puts in place and keeps in place. On the Compliance+ package, certification is a one-off £500 add-on covering preparation, evidence and submission through a licensed certification body.
What does Cyber Essentials cost through Telebyte?
The IASME assessment fee is banded by company size and paid to the certification body. Our certification support is a one-off £500 add-on on the Compliance+ package, which covers getting the controls in place, preparing the evidence and managing the submission. Telebyte Shield itself is from £25 per user per month.
We failed the questionnaire on our own. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. Most self-submitted failures come down to unpatched software, missing multi-factor authentication, or unsupported operating systems still in use. Those are remediation jobs rather than lost causes. We will tell you what is failing and what it takes to fix before you commit to anything.
Do you do Cyber Essentials Plus as well?
Cyber Essentials Plus adds a hands-on technical audit by an assessor, rather than a self-assessment questionnaire. The controls we run are the same ones Plus tests, so the groundwork is identical — the difference is the audit. Not every certification body is licensed for Plus, so if Plus is likely later it is worth using one body for both.
Do you only work with FCA-regulated firms?
No. Telebyte Shield was built around FCA-regulated finance, insurance and claims firms because that is who we already serve, and their requirements are the strictest. Any small UK business that holds customer data and has been asked for Cyber Essentials by an insurer, client or public-sector contract is a fit.

We run every bit of this on our own business.

Telebyte Shield is the exact stack that protects our own systems — proven in production, not assembled for a brochure. If we wouldn’t trust it with our business, we wouldn’t sell it to yours.

Enterprise-grade doesn’t have to mean enterprise-sized. It just has to be run properly.
